ILOILO CITY, Philippines — Thousands of beneficiaries now enjoy security of tenure in their lands, as the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has intensified its Handog Titulo Program.
“This is a mandate of DENR to dispose lands to rightful claimants,” DENR-6 Director Jim Sampulna said.
For the period 2014-2015, DENR has distributed 11,033 agricultural land titles and d 9,062 residential land title through the Hamdog Titulo Program.
The number indicates 8,33868 hectares of agricultural land ownership and 225,6058 hectares of residential lot ownership which would have cost millions of pesos.
“More than this, thousands of beneficiaries are now proud land owners and enjoy security of tenure,” Sampulna said.
The DENR has been implementing the Patents Processing Issuance program, with the completion of the regional cadastral survey.
“Our personnel doing the PPI are now focused on it as I want the Land Administration System (LAMS) working in the region,” Sampulna said.
According to Environment Secretary Ramon Paje, the LAMS will address erroneous data, duplication of records, multiple sources of land information and many others.
The LAMS will implement the computerization of land records, the scanning and encoding of maps, survey plans and public land applications.
Sampulna said that on top of this is that the claimants or beneficiaries need not worry a lot about spending much, as patents are for free.
“Or they do not have to wait for so long even a life time in many cases, to get their land titles,” said Sampulna, adding that Handog Titulo gives hope to many claimants to finally get their land titles.
