QUEZON CITY, Philippines – The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) yesterday started its clean-up drive in some public and private cemeteries in Metro Manila as part of its “Oplan Kaluluwa.”
According to MMDA, personnel from the Metro Parkway Clearing Group (MPCG) will be deployed in different cemeteries in preparation for the observance of the All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days on November 1 and 2, respectively.
The following cemeteries up for cleaning include: La Loma Cemetery in Caloocan City; Mandaluyong Cemetery (Aglipay) and San Felipe Neri Catholic Cemetery (semi-public), both in Mandaluyong City; North and South Cemeteries in Manila; and Barangka Cemetery in Marikina City.
Likewise, Loyola Memorial Park, Manila Memorial Park, Palanyag
Public Cemetery in Parañaque City will be up for cleaning, along with Sargento Mariano Public Cemetery in Pasay City and Baraks, Catholic Cemetery in Pasig City.
The Aglipay Cemetery (M. Lozada Street), San Joaquin Cemetery (M. Almeda Street), and San Roque Cemetery (E. Hermosa Street) in Pateros are also included in MMDA’s clean-up drive.
Other cemeteries are Bagbag in Baesa, Quezon City; San Juan Cemetery in San Juan City; Hagonoy Cemetery and the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City; Arkong Bato, Palasan Cemetery, and Karuhatan Cemetery in Valenzuela City; Soldiers Hill Cemetery in Muntinlupa City; St. Joseph Public Cemetery in Las Piñas, and the Tugatog Cemetery in Malabon City.
Aside from the clean-up campaign, MMDA will also dispatch its personnel to manage the flow of traffic at critical areas, such as bus terminals.
MMDA will also mobilize members of the Anti-Jaywalking Unit and Sidewalk Clearing Operations Group at Araneta-Cubao bus terminal, EDSA Cubao bus terminals, EDSA Pasay-Taft bus terminals, Sampaloc bus terminals, Dangwa and Mindanao Avenue.
