BY RIC DE VERA, Golf Corner – DOOSIDE resident and Fi-Oz Social Golf Club Treasurer easily won the 12th AICL Education Cup held on 5 October 2015 at Twin Creeks Golf & Country Club., at Twin Creek near St Marys, NSW for his fourth consecutive win.
He scored gross stroke of 77 and net 69 with three birdies, under the System 36 method of scoring. He received $300 cash prize and a trophy for his exceptional efforts. “I’m very happy to have won this tournament again for the fourth time” said an ecstatic but confident Bernie. He is entitled to play with free entry fee for next year’s AICL cup.
Division champions with their gross/net scores were Neil Narvais (85/70) for A; Lorenzo Aquino (83/72) for B and Jun dela Pena (96-74) for C. These division champions received $150 each for their significant efforts.
Lady winner was Jane Sirisatien from the Thai Golf Australia. She received cash prize of $50 and golf umbrella.
Division runners up with their gross/net scores were Robert Bolina (91/70) for Division A; Jimmy Gonzales (93/72) for Division B and Ferdi Francisco (98/74) for C. Cash prize of $100 each were awarded to these runner up winners.
All ninety eight (98) participants were pre-assigned of their respective division based on declared handicaps as follows: 0-18 for Division A, 19-22 for Division B and 23 or more for Division C. Everyone received white collared t-shirt courtesy of Fortrust Education Services.
Novelty prizes of $20 per hole were awarded to Nearest the Pins, Longest drives (men & ladies) and longest putt as follows: Jojodelos Reyes (NTP #2), Danny Martinez (NTP #14), Ferdi Francisco (NTP #16) and ElenSioco (NTP #17). Keith Sta Barbara (LD #5), Eric Banguis (LD #9), Thai Tran (LD #15) and Vangie Leones (LD ladies). Longest putt was won by Kate Andres.
Sumptuous and very generous barbeque dinner followed after the tournament courtesy of Fortrust and prepared by the top chef of Twin Creeks Golf & Country Club.‘It was the most successful and well attended AICL Cup ever’ said Aris Ortanez.
Aris Ortanez, Marketing Director of AICL & AIH welcomed all golfers and thanked the different Filipino-Australian golf clubs for their support. Mentioed were Golf ParE, Fairgolf, Jokers, DivoTees, Pogi, PX, Hampas, Rampcorp, Metro Sydney & Fil-oz. Also acknowledged were Fortrust manager Monica Yaptangco and official photographer Triza Gonzales. He mentioned the upcoming road shows by Fortrust in major cities in the Philippines. Fortrust had donated prizes of cash and t-shirts.
While waiting for the results, Aris did a presentation on AICL and AIH programs such as Business, Accounting, IT and Aged Care as pathways for international students to become professionals here in Australia or when they go back to their home country.Aris also announced the upcoming Thai Kings Cup golf tournament sponsored by the Sydney Thai Golf Association , at Moore Park Golf Club on Sunday, 13 December 2015 starting at 1:00pm shot gun.
David Ball Wins FILCOS Golf Cup
Meanwhile, the FILCOS Fairfield Golf tournament held at Woodville Golf course on Saturday, 10 October 2015 was won by David Ball with his net score of 68 strokes using the System 36 method of scoring. He received $300 cash prize and trophy for his excellent efforts.
Division winners with their net scores were Glen Johnston (69) for A and Remy Cajes (71) for B. Division runners up with their net scores were Cris Bacucang (70) for A and Ric Marfil (72) for B.
Division first runners up with their net scores were Romy Reyes (71) for A and Joel Florido (72) for B.
Division winners received cash prize of $150 each, whereas division runners up received $100 each and division first runners up received $60 each for their fantastic efforts.
Hole winners with corresponding cash prize of $20 each were Glen Johnston (NTP #2), Neil Narvais (L/D #3), Roger delos Reyes (D & P #4), Arnie Santos (NTP #5), Bong Reyes (L/D #6), Scott Barn (NTP #7), Glen Johnston (D & P #8), Stan Johnston (D & P #9), Ramon Rendon (D & P #10), Rudy Elegado (NTP #11), Glen Johnston (D & P #12), David Ball (L/D Nos 13 &14), Ross McInnes (NTP #15), Romy Reyes (D & P Nos 16 & 17) and Glen Johnston (L/D #18).
In behalf of Filcos Fairfield and Fr Nards Crescini, Filcos Fairfield President Lina Lonfrancao relayed the gratitude of Filcos to all the golfers in the fund raising tournament. Acknowledged were Cris & Wilma Bacucang for coordinating the event and Austral Cargo & Megaworld, for their sponsorship.
Lina also congratulated the winners and to the losers, she says – better luck next time. Hopefully, everyone will continue supporting this event. ‘See you again next year’ she finally said.The coordinator, Cris Bacucang on his part thanked Fairgolf Social Golf Club headed by Arnie Santos for supporting this fund raising golf tournament.
