2014 PASC Golf Cup Winners

Fred Bacucang from Blair Athol and Vice President of Pogi Golf won the PASC Golf Sydney Eagles annual charity golf 2014 held on August 24 at New Brighton Golf Club. He ran away with the monumental trophy and cash prize of $150 for his fantastic score of 87 gross and net 71 under the System 36 method of scoring. “Am very happy and perhaps just lucky that some of the big guys from Pogi did not play” said an ecstatic Fred. 

Division winners and their gross/net scores were: Carlos Perez (93/71) for Division 1, Jun Gonzales (98/71) for Division 2 and Laura Marquinez (104/76 CB) for Ladies Division. A cash prize of $100 each plus trophies were awarded to these division winners. 

Division runners up and their gross/net scores were: Danny Martinez (93/73) for Division 1, Gabriel Signey (99/74) for Division 2 and Kathy Wagner (104/76) for Ladies Division. A cash prize of $50 each plus trophies were awarded to these division runners up. 

Novelty prizes were also awarded trophies & golf balls to NTPs, Best drive & pitch and longest drive for both men and ladies, as follows:  Fred Bacucang (Longest drive on hole 3 and NTP on hole 4), Nep Palomo (Drive & Pitch on hole 5), Vangie Leones (Longest drive on hole 8), Gerald Tuazon (Longest drive on hole 16) and Danny Martinez (NTP on hole 11 and Drive & Pitch on hole 18).

 During the awards presentation, Manny Castillo (PASC President) thanked those who participated and supported this annual charity golf. He also thanked the sponsors headed by MVA Financial Services and others for their financial assistance. Miss Melanie Balagtas, the reigning Miss Philippines-Australia and Miss Charity Queen Australia 2013 assisted in awarding the trophies and cash prizes. 

“The inclement weather forecast tremendously affected the expected number of participants, but nevertheless because of the sunny weather during the day those who played enjoyed their games” finally commented PASC President, Manny Castillo with a bit of frustration.  

Meanwhile, two teams representing Fairgolf of Sydney and Macquarie Links Int’l Golf Club are now ready to fly to Manila and on to Baguio for the 65th Fil-Am Invitational Golf Tournament to be held on November 19 to December 6, 2014, hosted by the Baguio Country Club and Camp John Hay Golf & country club. Seniors division will be played on November 22-27 and Men’s Regulars will be played on December 2-6, for 36 holes each from both host Clubs. – By Ric de Vera
