BENGUET, Philippines – Qualified out-of -school youth and high school graduates bent on pursuing technical-vocational (tech-voc) courses will have chances of availing scholarship program under the Technical for Work Scholarship Program of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
TESDA is currently preparing a scheme for Training for Work Scholarship Program for technical training institute with TESDA- registered programs including government technical-vocational schools.
Senior Technical Skills Development Specialist Margarita Lamsis said their office is doing qualification map for tech-voc schools offering employable courses. These will be given scholarship slots for their enrollees to avail should they qualify.
Baguio and Benguet are allocated P8 million for such scholarship program that provides for free tuition fee, Lamsis said.
One of the basic requirements for a student to qualify is National Career Assessment Examination result but is yet to be validated through a Youth Profiling for Study Career, Lamsis adds.
Other requirements are: at least 15 years old; high school graduate; must have interest; and must go for career guidance counseling.
TESDA is urging the tech-voc schools for their assistance and cooperation for the proper implementation of the program with the aim of producing globally competitive and employable graduates.
